Untitled (Family Places)
In the late summer of 2008 I found myself staying alone in the country house that is the nexus for family gatherings on my mother’s side. I had never been in this house alone before and I couldn’t help seeing the rest of my family there in the space with me, mostly in the form of photographs I had taken years earlier. Many of the people in the remembered photos are now dead. In Untitled (Family Places) I re-photograph from memory the spaces shown in pictures I had taken over 15 years earlier.
